This is the most recent state of my tank, I have 7 neon tetras and 4 ember tetras in total, 4 of each being brand new additions as of May 25th, 2025.
This picture is from a couple weeks ago, before the 8 new fish got added, and before I divided up my Anubias. I did enjoy the big Anubias seen in this picture, but I wanted to propegate it to eventually fill out more areas of the tank, as well as maybe have one for a smaller second tank that I'm thinking about setting up for a betta fish or some shrimp.
this was this same tank when I first set it up in 2022. it did have a different plant that is no longer with us lol.
and here is a cool picture of the fishies shining in the sunlight ;D
I have a few houseplants which I will get pictures of but for now you get descriptions >:)
Plant #1: my newest plant, which is a variegated pothos which i keep in a hanging pot beside my window :) i love it and its so nice and yaya
Plant #2: my Spider Plant which actually is also variegated, its got the stripes down the middl of the leaves and this plant is very awesome. I have had if for a long time and I think it grew from a baby that grew on an older spider plant. I mean, as all plants do, but I mean it was a spider plant that my mother owned and then it had a baby and the baby is my plant. Anyway. This plant has been through a lot, such as me forgetting that it existed for like a month and it lost A LOT of leaves but shhhhhhh she's okay now. in a new pot and new soil and looking very pretty.
Plant #3: my Dracena Marginata, Sandy, the only plant that I named. Sandy is one that i bought for four dollars impulsively at home depot like 5 years ago. And due to the impulsivity of the purchase, i did not do any research about it, like not even a google search, and so basically my room is not even close to the ideal environment for poor Sandy and she is struggling a little. she needs much more humidity and light. Recently she has been in the worst shape of her life, in a pot too small with no drainage hole and very dense soil. it was not a good combo, and she got root rot, plus it was winter not that long ago so all that plus decreased light during the day. But fear not. Now I have put her in a bigger pot WITh a drainage hole, and gave her new soil with orchid bark mixed in because she definitely needs that space in the soil for her roots to grow back, i have been watering her regularly but not TOO much, aaand she'll hopefully be getting more light since it's summer.
Plant #4: a smaller Pothos, not variegated, that came off of a different Pothos plant that I used to have, which is growing hydroponically in my fishtank. see why I have my plants and fishtanks on the same page?
Honorable mentions (my plants that died lol): Tradescantia Zebrina that i grew accidentally because I picked up a tiny piece off the floor of home depot and just happened to put it in one of my other plants' pots before I even knew what plant propegation was. It was actually very impressive how big it got but i dont remember what happened i think i probably watered it too much and it died. so sad. I also used to have a little Pilea Peperomioides and again i dont really remember what happened to it but it died. probably forgot to water it because it was so small and not near any other plants in my room.
coming soon to the fishkeeping page: pictures of my plants, the story of my rescued betta fish (with photos), idiotmaggots guide to freshwater fishkeeping, and if i ever get around to it, I will document the setting up of my smaller tank, but that may be a few months away, who knows.
